Re-New, Re-Energize, and Re-Invent

It’s a new year and a new you. A time to Re-New, Re-Energize, and Re-Invent. This is the year to calm the butterflies and be rid of sweaty palms as you stand in front of a crowd and give a business presentation, as you sit for an interview, or as you provide your thoughts on a topic…off the cuff, eloquently and succinctly.

Summit Toastmasters invites you to a free demonstration meeting next Tuesday evening, January 17th in Frisco.

Featured local speakers include:

Judi LaPoint:

Ms. LaPoint will give an introduction on “Social Media Marketing — What’s The Buzz?”

Jim Shaw:

Mr. Shaw will discuss techniques for preparing and rehearsing your next speech.

DATE:                               Tuesday, January 17, 2012
NETWORKING:         6:30 pm to 6:45 pm
MEETING:                     6:45 pm to 7:30 pm
Q&A                                   7:30 pm to 7:45 pm
LOCATION:                  Frisco Rec Building
110 S. 3rd Avenue (Corner of 3rd & Granite)
Frisco, Colorado
COST:                                FREE

 What is a Demonstration Meeting?

This is a shortened 45 minute meeting with 15 minutes of networking before and after the demonstration. During the meeting, Toastmaster Members demonstrate and explain the various components of a typical meeting which includes the two short presentations noted above. These structured meetings allow the volunteers to learn various skills in running meetings, organizing Teams, and speaking in front of groups. This format also allows guests more time to ask members why they joined Toastmasters, what they have learned, and why they have stayed with the program.

What is the benefit to you?

  •  You pick up new techniques for your next business presentation or interview, plus meet one of the local experts on Social Media Marketing.
  • You will work on your networking skills as you meet other local professionals.
  • You learn about local speaking and leadership opportunities.

We look forward to helping you learn some new skills or brush up on some old ones. You are welcome to invite a friend to come along…

We have a few openings in the agenda as noted below. It’s never too early to plan ahead and start working on your next speech. It’s amazing how a deadline helps the creative juices flow! We have a special treat scheduled for the June 7 meeting. I’ve invited my group from Leadership Summit to give the presentation that we will be presenting for graduation on June 10th. (A goal and a deadline!) We have a few people we would love to hear their Icebreakers!

Toastmasters Magazines:

Toastmasters Magazine is a great resource for us and the community. Bring in your old magazines when you are done with them and we will add our club contact information to them, then distribute them out to organizations through out the community. The latest May issue will be great for our local college campuses and Workforce centers! Past Issue

Distinguished Club Program update:

Congratulations to all of our members who have been working hard on their speeches and the officers for all of their dedication attending Officer training and submitting on time the various reports required by International this year. We’ve met 7 of the 10 goals! Our club has enough credit to receive the Select Distinguished Club designation if we reach our final membership goal of 17 members! Let’s distribute those magazines!

Club Elections:

Club Officer elections will be held June 7th with the new terms starting July 1st! I have to say that I have found this to be a wonderful year filled with a lot of growth opportunities. (Hmmm…I think I know my topic for Speech 9 – Objective: Persuade with Power.) 🙂 happy

Membership Dues:

We are on the second membership period which runs April through September. You can pay by Check or Credit card at the meeting. Returning members are typically $30 ($27 international + $3 club), new members are typically $50 ($27 international + $3 club + $20 new member) when joining in April. There is a $4.50 credit for members joining and renewing in May. New member application

Have a great weekend! Looking forward to seeing everybody on Tuesday!
