This meeting theme was used for our first meeting of January 2011. Our Toastmaster of the evening payed homage to the experience within the club by recognizing the accomplishments of members, but then encouraged the new members to make the leap and take flight as they meet their personal goals within Toastmasters.
This theme was an exciting way of kicking off the new year, but also a great theme for meeting that had three Icebreaker speeches scheduled.
Kick-off email from Toastmaster Lance Miller setting the stage for the meeting:
…2011 is here and it’s time to really get excited about becoming the well-esteemed speaker and charismatic leader we’ve always had within us!
For many of our members the bar has been moved to an impassively high standard through participation in meetings in the previous year! For other’s like myself, tomorrow’s meeting will certainly be that first opportunity to join the group in the upward flight! On that vein of flight, come and join us as 3 of the 4 speakers and yours truly as Toastmaster embark on our ‘first flight.’ Of course who better to set the stage than our very own luminary President as she spirals upward to a better view of her own in Speech #6!
We still have the following spots open, so if you were thinking of ‘skipping’ this meeting, be sure to reconsider, and set the stage for your own success and help us to achieve ours by letting myself and Pat know that you are eager to help in one of the following roles:
- Evaluator #3 to Alice Miller’s first speech
- Evaluator #4 to Melissa Hoffman’s first speech
The all too natural theme for our first meeting in 2011 will be “First Flight – An Eagle’s Anecdote.” Do not miss out and be sure to come and see what it’s all about!
